Spring & Summer 2021 It-bag report
.
We know we’re not the only ones who are dying to get out our little black dresses and put on our favourite pair of heels again. The good news is this spring and summer are looking up - and hopefully we’ll soon have more and more excuses to break out our best outfits.
Which is why now is the perfect time to invest in a new bag or add one to your existing collection. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up the ultimate It-bags for the season. Whether you’re after the latest trend or a future classic, here are 2021’s must have Spring/Summer accessories.
The Prada Cleo
Prada’s Cleo bag from its SS21 collection is a take on one of the brand’s iconic designs from the ‘90s and is easily the runaway hit accessory of 2021. It has been all over Instagram since it launched at the end of last year - but this isn’t just a fad. Sophisticated and minimalist, the Cleo is one of those handbags you’re likely to keep forever, so it’s definitely a worthwhile investment. Designed to hug your body when slung over your shoulder, it’s made from brushed leather with nylon lining and is available in two different sizes, as well as with or without a flap. It comes in classic black or white but if you’re loving the colourful trend we’re seeing lately, you can also get it in shades like orchid pink, aqua and silver for a more current look.
The Point by Bottega Veneta
Seemingly, Daniel Lee can do no wrong. Since taking over as Creative Director of Bottega Veneta in 2018, he has released one It-bag after another - most famously the Pouch, which might just be the It-bag of the last decade. His Cassette and Jodie bags also reached near-cult status and have been a companion to many an influencer and celebrity. This season’s favourite is the Point, part of the house’s SS21 collection, Salon 01. A roomy clutch with a cut out V handle, it also comes with a detachable shoulder strap and is available in a slew of materials, colours, and sizes, from black nappa leather to green macramé.
The Fendi Moonlight
Created by Silvia Venturini Fendi in 1997, the classic Fendi baguette is one of the most famous It-bags of the ‘90s (Carrie Bradshaw, anyone?). Since then, it has been released in a million different iterations, and vintage pieces are still in high demand. It saw a bit of a resurgence in 2019, and there are a number of great new Baguette arrivals in the SS21 collection. However, the Fendi bag catching everyone’s attention this year is the Moonlight. This versatile crescent-shaped leather satchel has a cool tortoise shell trim and comes in several super wearable hues that would go with any outfit.

The Chanel 19
If there’s something that has proven to never go out of style, it’s a Chanel bag - and we think the Chanel 19 will stand the test of time too. First seen on the AW19 runway as the last bag to launch under Karl Lagerfeld, the Chanel 19 is the perfect mix of classic and modern and continues to be one to lust after in 2021. The bag incorporates several of today’s most in-style trends, such as a puffy shape and chunky chains, while still bringing all the elegance we expect from Chanel. The Spring/Summer collection features some great new releases in uplifting bright, pastel and metallic colours for the warmer months ahead.
